New buses and shorter waiting times for services to St Anns and the City Hospital have been welcomed by local Labour Councillors Sue Johnson, Dave Liversidge and Jon Collins. The larger, more comfortable buses can also carry more passengers and during the week now run every 7/8 minutes. The new services are a big improvement” says Councillor Sue Johnson, “and with so man people in St Anns relying on buses to get around it’s great that City Transport has invested in the area”. Nottingham is one of the few cities in the country where the Council still owns the bus service. It also means that when Nottingham City Transport makes a profit it pays for better services not handouts for shareholders.Labour Councillor Dave Liversidge said “These changes are a big improvement but we need better services elsewhere in the Ward too. Because with our better free bus pass for pensioners, better value fares, and rising petrol costs, more and more people are deciding to travel by bus”.
