The new Mary Potter Centre on Gregory Boulevard officially opens this week, with an open day including tours of the centre, kids activities and parade and a welcome from the Lord Mayor, Cllr Gulnwz Khan.
The £14 million centre is the result of Labour’s investment in local communities, providing easy access and high quality resources for local people. It is now home for GP surgeries, health clinics, as well as Nottingham City Council Social Care and Children’s Services, Neighbourhood Management Team, Nottingham City Homes Housing Office and the Acom Resource Centre. The centre will also be home to the local Surestart Centre. A one stop shop for some of the most important services for local people.
Local Councillor Merlita Bryan said “This is a modern, attractive and accessible building, providing state of the art resources for the council and health services. This will be very convenient for local people and make local services more effective. I have supported this project form the beginning and it is great to see it come to fruition”
The Portfolio Holder for Customer Services, Cllr Eunice Campbell added “This is about widening access for the city’s residents to their local services, The Clifton Cornerstone and The Mary Potter Centres are the first steps, with a centre also planned for Bulwell.
Nottingham City Arts and NDC have helped local artists to exhibit in and around the centre, and a quiet room and café are also planned for the centre.
••••The centre will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Gulwaz Khan, at 4pm on the 4th September. It takes place during an open day at the centre from 9.30am to 4.30pm when visitors can tour the centre, see the facilities and services available, and take part in activities including a children’s carnival parade at 4.30pm.The Lord Mayor of Nottingham will be joined by local schoolchildren at a carnival celebration to mark to official opening of The Mary Potter Centre on Thursday (Sept 4).••••
