Dales Ward Labour Councillors David Mellen and Gul Khan took Jon Collins, Leader of the City Councit on a guided tour of the areas of the ward to point out and discuss local issues.
“We wanted the opportunity to show Jon some areas of concern that we have, and which local residents haveraised with us. There have been a few areas that have been struggling with anti-social behaviour problems and we want Jon to make sure that the council’s resources are deployed effectivley.” Said David, adding “There are also a number of really good community projects and organisations that we think can set an example to the rest of the cuty and we wanted to make sure Jon saw those as well.”
During a tour of the ward, David and Gul pointed out a number of issues they are actively tackling and asked Jon to make sure that the council helped achieve their objectives. The issues included;
• fencing to Parkdale Road Park
• improving the Green’s Windmill Park
• improving and incrasing recyling
• gang and noise nuisance around the Sneinton Hermitage caused by a late night licence in one of the local pubs.
Commenting on the tour, Gul Khan said “local people are willing partners to making changes in the neighbourhoods and we have to make sure that council is delivering.”
